MoH Warns People to Remain Vigilant Against Covid-19 and Food Poisoning During the New Year

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia's Ministry of Health has issued guidelines on the prevention of Covid-19 transmission and food poisoning during the upcoming New Year.

According to the Ministry of Health's instruction released on Monday, 5 December 2022, people are advised to be extremely cautious and follow the guidelines while traveling and attending gatherings in the upcoming New Year. The Ministry stresses the consistent implementation of the 3 Do's (wear a mask, wash your hands often, and keep a social distance of one and a half meters with others) and the 3 Don't's (do not go to crowded places, do not go to enclosed spaces with no air flow, and do not make physical contact with each other).

"Covid-19 is a virus that we cannot see with the naked eye, and it is still around us," the Ministry stressed.

At the same time, the Ministry also advised people to implement measures to prevent food poisoning by maintaining good hygiene, cooking food properly, and storing food at a safe temperature.

Cambodia has so far done a good job in handling the Covid-19 pandemic, both in terms of administering vaccinations and preventing its spread in society, allowing the country to reopen and function normally. People can now travel during the New Year's holiday, and Angkor Sangkran can finally be organized again after being previously disrupted by the pandemic.
